Mali's ORTM launches world satellite TV broadcast

Satellite TV broadcasts across Europe of Mali’s national public broadcaster, ORTM (Office de Radio et de Télévision de Mail) were officially launched on 17 February by the country’s President, Amadou Toumani Touré. During an official visit to France, the President inaugurated the international broadcasts of ORTM on Eutelsat’s W3A satellite which enables Direct-to-Home reception across Europe with domestic antennas.
Available free-to-air via Ku-band capacity on W3A, ORTM’s schedule includes news, sport, art and culture programmes, broadcast principally in French from 11am to 1am (1000-2400 UTC). The channel joins a multiplex on the satellite which includes Senegalese channels RTS and 2S TV, which also broadcast in French.
