State radio in Chechnya goes live online

Russia:
Dave Kernick writes: The state broadcaster in the Chechen Republic, CHGTRK Grozny, have now made their Grozny Radio service available on a live audio stream available from the website of their associated news agency at www.chechnyatoday.com.

Grozny Radio broadcasts on 105.4 MHz FM in the capital, and has been observed on air at 0300 to 2200 UTC on weekdays (Chechnya is in the same time zone as Moscow, currently UTC +3 hours). Programming is in Russian and Chechen, including a 5-10 minute news bulletin in either language at the top of most hours.

The website is available in Russian and English, and also offers an on-demand 45-minute video file of CHGTRK Grozny’s 1800 (local time) TV news bulletin, which is presented in Russian but includes several untranslated excerpts of the President and others speaking in Chechen. Another feature is an on-demand video file of ‘Highlights of the Week’, a news roundup presented in English by Canadian model Chrystal Callahan - from the lack CHGTRK onscreen logo, this appears to be an internet-only production.

CHGTRK Grozny (or CHGTRK “Terrible”, as it translates) has a Russian-language website at www.groztrk.ru, although this does not appear to have any audio or video links to their services. The Chechen Government has a website at chechnya.gov.ru, and this includes links to CHGTRK’s 1800 TV bulletin and a Vesti TV “Vainakh” localized news bulletin.
